Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

First affordable homes complete

The first six homes have been completed as part of a £19.8 million affordable homes programme to build 190 new homes across County Durham by homes and communities business livin

The former brownfield site at Thirlmere Road, Ferryhill now boasts six two-bedroom homes that have been let through the Durham Key Options choice based lettings scheme. The properties have been built to large modern space standards and promote energy efficiency.

Wayne Harris, executive director property and development, livin said: “We are delighted the first homes are now complete and ready for people to move into. We are committed to providing good quality much needed homes in the area and this scheme marks the successful start to our broader affordable homes programme.”

The homes have been built by livin’s construction partner Tolent Living who are also working on several other sites including the former sheltered housing scheme, Butterby Grange in Spennymoor which has been demolished to make way for 14 new two-bedroom apartments for older people.

Andy Mcleod, Managing Director of Tolent Living said: “We are pleased to have completed our first housing development for livin.  We take great pride in building fantastic homes for local people, but we also build great relationships with the communities that we work in.  We looked forward to handing the next scheme over in the coming weeks and to continuing our work with livin in the future.”
