Chris Wood‘s style of English folk appeals to a wide and varied audience.
He has converted many an anti-folk fan with his blend of traditional and modern songwriting, and has been hailed by the Irish Times as ‘the renaissance man of English folk’.
Often compared to Richard Thompson, his music explores the history of the English-speaking world alongside tales of modern life.
Joan Armatrading was so taken with Chris’s writing, she invited him as special guest on her 50 date tour.
‘Wood is an intimate storyteller, applying such nuance and gravitas to every phrase you are imperceptibly lured into his world’ (Mojo Magazine)
‘The finest and most original singer-songwriter to have emerged from the Brtish folk scene since Richard Thompson’ (The Guardian)
‘Folk singer of the year’ and ‘best original song’ at BBC Radio 2’s Folk Singer Awards 2011.
‘One of our finest songwriters.’ ***** Independent
When someone like Laurie Anderson says “I think Chris Wood is an incredible artist…. he combines stories and music in such an original and completely melodic way.” one should maybe take note…
