NORTH East foodies can experience tastes of the Mediterranean at Fratello’s this summer as the gastro Italian restaurant launches its brand new menu, inspired by the country’s culinary hotspots.
Sitting within DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, next to Newcastle International Airport, diners can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in vibrant surroundings. The summer dishes have been crafted by executive head chef Steven Keys with the likes of holiday destinations Tuscany, Portofino and the Italian Riviera in mind.
Those interested in sampling the new menu before anyone else can register for the free launch event on Thursday 30 June 2016 from 5pm to 7pm here.
New appetisers include smooth Chicken Liver Parfait with pickled vegetables, focaccia and watercress, Wild Mushroom Arancini with tarragon crème fraiche, and Cured Salmon with apple and celeriac remoulade.
Main course options feature Petto D’Anatra – oven roasted duck breast paired with spinach and shallots in a red wine jus, Lombata Di Angello – seared rump of lamb on a salad of broad beans, peas, asparagus, fregola, mint, rosemary and pan-jus, and Spaghetti Vongole – fresh clams, garlic, chilli, cherry tomatoes, parsley and white wine.
To finish with something sweet, try both light and luxurious desserts Bomba Al Frutti Di Bosco – summer berry compote, sponge, vanilla ice cream and Italian meringue or Warm Chocolate Brownie with orange mascarpone.
Alongside the new additions for summer, diners can also indulge in Fratello’s range of classic dishes, from fresh hand-stretched, stone-baked pizzas to pastas and risottos, and not forgetting some scoops of gelato.
DoubleTree by Hilton director of sales Claire Davies said: “Summer has arrived at Fratello’s and our new menu is packed with flavours to complement the warmer months ahead, thanks to our executive head chef Steven Keys who has worked hard to create a menu of truly authentic Italian cuisine with a Fratello’s-style twist.
“We are looking forward to welcoming guests this summer to join us for our Italian dining experience, whether they are staying at the hotel on arriving back from or outbound to hotter climes, Newcastle locals or those looking to try somewhere new.”
Coinciding with the menu launch, Fratello’s has joined the range of North East bars and restaurants which form the Sweet Rewards loyalty membership scheme, where diners can redeem 20% discount Friday to Sunday on presentation of their free Sweet Rewards card.
The offer extends to Fratello’s Jesmond which is located within the Holiday Inn, minutes from the city centre.
