Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Free Dog Chipping

209Hambleton dog owners have the chance to get their pet microchipped for free next month.

From 6 April, it became a legal requirement for all dogs to be microchipped and for owners to keep their contact details up-to-date with the microchipping companies.

Microchipping helps identify dogs if they get lost or stolen and is the single most effective way to get a dog returned to its owner which helps reduce stress for the dog and the owner as well as saving money on kennelling fees.

Hambleton district council is joining forces with the Dogs Trust to provide the free session on 10 May at the Forum on Bullamoor Road in Northallerton as part of work to make sure all dogs are microchipped.

It takes place from 11am until 3pm and no appointment is needed.

The new microchipping legislation will be enforced by local authorities, police constables, community support officers and any other person which the Secretary of State may authorise to act as an enforcer of the regulations.

Failure to get your dog chipped could result in a fine of up to £500.
