Screen Shot 2016-01-21 at 09.53.45A North East fun dog show is celebrating its fourth birthday having already raised more than £2600 for dog related charities.

The Metro Mortgages “Metrodogs Fun Show” will take place on Saturday 20th February at Newburn Leisure Centre in Newcastle and all profits will be donated to Support Dogs UK.

The show, the biggest yet, will feature 50 categories including waggiest tail, prettiest bitch, cuddliest ears and even a fancy dress competition. As well as the fun categories, there will be the traditional type of show dog classes including gundog/working, terrier, hound and best crossbreed.

Support Dogs is a national charity dedicated to increasing independence and quality of life for people with various medical conditions. They provide, train and support specialist assistance dogs to achieve this. The charity trains dogs to help with everyday tasks for people with physical disabilities, give advance warning of seizures for people with epilepsy and provide safety and support for children with autism and their families.

Organiser of the event, Janice Cumberland, whose husband, Graeme owns main sponsors Metro Mortgages, said:

“This is always a great family fun day out. We always make sure that a dog related charity benefits from the generosity of our sponsors, competitors and the general public who come along every year to support us. It’ll be a great event and we are looking for local businesses to sponsor parts of the show and show their support to this worthy cause.”

In addition to the dog show, dog related traders will exhibit their goods and refreshments and other items will be on sale throughout the day too.
