LIVE stage shows, meet and greets with much loved characters, face painting and bubble making are just some of the activities that will make Newcastle’s Times Square the place to be on the first May Bank Holiday.
Following the success of the first Funtopia held in March – which sold out in record time – organisers EVNT Inspirations & Let’s Party Events have unveiled their plans for a second event.
And that’s good news for families wanting to find ways of keeping their youngsters entertained on Monday 5th May.
The open-air family festival is running two sessions – mornings which will operate from 9.30am until 12:30pm and then afternoons from 1.30pm until 5pm.
Both sessions will two live stage shows, featuring a whole host of favourite characters from Bluey through to Elsa.
After each show youngster can head to the tipi for a meet and greet with the performers and have their photograph taken.
The Funzone will feature face painting, balloon modelling and bubble fun while kids can also enjoy the dance pen – where adults can enter but must sit on the floor so there’s strictly no dad dancing.
A range of food and drink outlets will also be available, featuring a number of street food favourites including Meat:Stack, Truly Madly Pizza, The Greek-ster, Coffee and Churros and Doughvine Desserts.
An ice cream van will be on site and there will be a range of bars, including a 20ft long slushie and ice pop bar.
“Our first Funtopia was a massive hit and all of the tickets went almost straight away,” said Nigel Holliday of EVNT Inspirations.
“That’s why we’ve decided to do it again but make it even bigger and better with a day packed with fun and entertainment for people of all ages – including the family pet.”
Tickets for Funtopia cost £5 per person and £2 for under twos. They can be bought at www.funtopia.uk
Some of the activities such as face painting carry an additional cost.
