GATESHEAD FC are pleased to announce the arrival of Robbie Tinkler who is Steve Watson’s sixth summer signing as things begin to take shape for next season.
Tinkler who made 17 appearances for the Heed last season while on loan from Middlesborough, has signed a one year deal following his release from the Teeside club.
“I’m over the moon to be back, I met with Steve yesterday and he showed his intent to bring me in earlier on in the close season,” said the former Boro man.
“The main thing is that I’ve signed the contract and I’m really looking forward to next season.
“We’ve got a good base together now and hopefully, we can do well next year.”
The former North Ferriby United loanee is capable of playing in midfield or across defence and is no stranger to the Gateshead fans, quickly becoming a fan favourite during his loan spell.
Steve Watson’s decision to stay played a major part in Tinkler’s return to Tyneside.
“Working under the gaffer last season made it a bit of a no-brainer to come back – him Micky and Clarky made me feel really welcome and part of something,” added Tinkler.
“I really enjoyed my time here last year but circumstances never arose for me to come back until now and I can’t wait to get started.”
