Global tech experts for Internet of Things summit

CaptureExperts from some of the world’s largest technology companies will be attending a summit in Sunderland next month.

Sunderland Software City is delivering IoTUK Boost, a series of local Internet of Things (IoT) incubation activities that will help tech SMEs to explore new IoT-related business opportunities.

They are hosting a 2-day IoT conference in Sunderland on the 2 and 3 February where experts from global technology companies Amey, CGI, Nissan and Innovate UK will outline future trends in Internet of Things and how smaller companies can start capitalising on the adoption of IoT technologies.

The conference will also be attended by representatives from organisations looking to commission new technology solutions to improve and streamline services including Gentoo, the Port of Sunderland and commuter group Bus Users UK.

David Dunn, chief executive of Sunderland Software City said: “The Internet of Things is the development of technology by which smart devices and sensors collect information from physical objects, such as vehicles and buildings, and share it via a network which allows for greater automation and integration between the physical world and computer systems.

“This sharing of information can result in improved understanding, greater efficiencies and accuracy which has vast economic benefit to organisations across all sectors and public services.”

During the two-day event organisations from social services, river and marine, emergency response and smarter working sectors will share current challenges and invite SMEs attending the event to explore and pitch solutions at a second event to be held at the end of February.
