Going the extra mile: Barratt Developments North East to walk 257 Kilometres in support of the Alzheimer’s Society

Local housebuilder Barratt Developments North East, which include the Barratt and David Wilson Homes brands, will be covering 257 kilometres this September to raise funds for its charity of the year, The Alzheimer’s Society.

  • Barratt employees will be put through their paces at the regional head office in Newcastle throughout September. During the month, employees will take turns on a treadmill to reach a cumulative total of 257 kilometres which is the equivalent of walking between all of the housebuilder’s 17 sites in the North East, from South Fields in Morpeth, to Grey Towers Village in Nunthorpe and back, in order to raise funds for the charity.
  • The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity. The charity works to improve the quality of life for people affected by dementia, doing everything they can to ensure that people with dementia are connected to the people who matter most. This September marks the 6th global Alzheimer’s Month, which aims to raise awareness of dementia and highlight the importance of early detection and diagnosis.

Becky Mortimer, Marketing Manager at Barratt Developments North East, commented: “The Memory Walk is going to be a fantastic way to raise funds for a charity close to the hearts of many employees here. We devote a lot of time and attention to charitable causes and this is a great way to have some fun and get in shape, but most importantly raise all important funds and awareness for a very worthy cause. We’re looking forward to seeing the whole team here get involved to clock up the miles!”
