North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

middlesbrough-moving-forwardMIDDLESBROUGH business Diamond Heaven will celebrate their relocation to new, bigger premises with a grand opening this weekend.

The business, which was one of the first to graduate from the Corner Emporium, opened its first stand-alone store in Captain Cook Square in 2012 but is now moving to Dundas Street to expand.

To celebrate, the store is inviting shoppers to their grand opening event this weekend (Saturday, October 24), where they will be among the first to see the new inclusions of a special occasion dress boutique, extended wedding section, and collections of jewellery and bespoke fascinators.

One of the highlights will be a unique window display, which is being kept tightly under wraps, but promises to be eye-catching for visitors and passers-by.

The launch event will include live music from singer and guitarist Val Boyers, and performances from close-up magician Paul Lytton, who has previously made Posh and Becks’ jewellery vanish, made money float for Kylie and Danni Minogue, and even sawn off Tom Jones’ arm.

There will also be a quirky photo booth in a campervan by Go Retro, refreshments including Buck’s Fizz and cupcakes by Debonair Cakes, in store floral displays by Butterflies Florist and a starlight display by StarliteXpress.

Owner Bernie Sowa said: “We are really excited to be relocating the business to a bigger store which will allow us to offer customers a unique and luxury shopping experience with an extended gift range, new jewellery lines and accessories just in time for Christmas shopping.

“Our business ethos to offer unique luxury products at affordable prices has proved to be a real hit with Middlesbrough shoppers and after listening to our customers our newly refurbished store will also see the addition of an affordable occasion dress boutique, fitting room and bespoke fascinator service for ladies attending the very popular and glamorous race days, hen nights, weddings, proms and special occasions.”

Middlesbrough’s Deputy Mayor and Executive Member for Regeneration, Cllr Charlie Rooney, said: “It’s great to see a business grow in the way Diamond Heaven has from its beginnings at the Corner Emporium to its new expanded premises.

“Having successful independent stores with a unique offering such as Bernie’s encourages more people to visit the town so has a hugely positive impact for everyone so we wish her all the success in her new premises.

Not content with running just one successful business, Bernie also owns a wedding coordinator business, Diamond Events, which has been shortlisted in the inaugural Northern Wedding Awards 2015.

The awards aim to recognise and reward excellence in all aspects of the wedding industry.  Diamond Events has been shortlisted in the Wedding Coordinator of the Year category for the North East region. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Manchester.

Diamond Heaven is opening from 11am on Saturday, October 24, at 43 Dundas Street, Middlesbrough, TS1 1HR.
