Hambleton’s garden waste recycling scheme now has almost 50% of the district’s households on its books – with more than 600 of them signed up for more than one green bin.
From this spring, garden waste is only collected from homes that subscribe to the garden waste scheme – bins displaying a licence are collected every fortnight. But the new system has meant that householders that want more than one bin can buy extra licences – and sports clubs, village halls and schools can also subscribe.
So far there are 637 homes and 84 organisations with extra bins on the register for collections – bringing the total of licences to 20,632 across the district.
