Gateshead based – Green Energy Consulting – has been awarded B2B Service Business of the Year at the Federation of Small Business (FSB) North East Region Business Awards.

Held at the Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel, the award ceremony celebrates business success in the North East.

Established in 2012, Green Energy Consulting’s mission was to make green energy accessible and affordable to the mass commercial market. And as such, the company has provided sustainable energy supply – without the added cost – to a range of businesses from SME’s through to large corporates and multi sites.

Speaking about the company’s success, Peter McGirr, Director and Co-founder at Green Energy Consulting said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded with this accolade at such a prestigious regional award ceremony. As a young company we are very proud to have been recognised for the very high levels of service that we continually strive to deliver to our clients.

“We believe our success stems from the close working relationships we have built with our clients and the long term partnerships we have with them in working towards delivering their green and sustainable business objectives. For us this starts with helping them secure a sustainable energy supply at a financially accessible rate and which is rarely available on the open market. In doing this not only do we help them achieve the objective of buying green without the added cost, but also enable them to redirect this saving into their business.”

Recognising the benefits of switching to green energy, the company boasts a host of esteemed clients including the likes of Christian Dior, AOL, William Hill, Yorkshire Building Society and The Church of England.

Initially employing only two staff, the company has successfully grown to now employ 29 and has ambitious plans to double this within the next nine months. The company has also demonstrated its firm CSR commitment by reinvesting in the local community and supporting local charities including the Children’s Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital (CHUF) and local sporting venues including Ravensworth Golf Club and Low Fell cricket club.

And the company’s successes have also been recognised at the 2015 national Energy Awards with the business nominated for third party intermediary of the year.

Peter added: “We have exciting expansion plans for the business over the next few months and are firmly committed to sharing our success with the local community, not only through being a sustainable employer, but also through our CSR commitments.”

Green Energy Consulting work with clients on all energy issues delivering a full end to end service from procurement through to implementing energy management and consumption reduction strategies. The company prides itself on securing the most competitive contracts with energy suppliers across the UK.
