The Planning Inspectorate has approved an appeal to build 300 new homes at Stockton Road in Sedgefield following a Public Inquiry in August 2016.

As part of the approved development, Story Homes will bring 80 new homes to County Durham.

The award-winning housebuilder will build a collection of homes ranging from two bedroom to five bedroom properties, including some bungalows. A total of 10 per cent of the homes will be allocated as affordable housing for local people.

Sarah Armstrong, head of land and planning for Story Homes in the North East, said: “We are very pleased that the Planning Inspector has recognised the quality of our proposals in resolving to approve the appeal and grant planning permission. We look forward to working in Sedgefield and bringing our award-winning, high-specification homes to the area.”

“The scheme will create employment opportunities for local contractors and bring further economic benefits to Sedgefield.”

Renowned for its attractive street scenes and generous landscaped areas within its developments, Story Homes is one of the fastest growing house building companies in country. It’s recent expansion into the North East has seen six live sites open across North Tyneside, Teesside and County Durham, with two further developments expected to open later this year.
