Gary Trotter - Hadrian TechnologySunderland-based CCTV specialist, Hadrian Technology, has seen its business grow rapidly in the last 12 months, and has secured contracts that will deliver a turnover of £9m for the year ahead.

The company, which specialises in designing and installing bespoke, high definition security systems, has experienced 300% growth over the last two years and this is set to continue with a trebling in turnover for the next financial year.

Hadrian Technology, which has particular expertise in providing CCTV systems for businesses operating in the retail and leisure markets, has acquired a very large contract in the retail sector and has partnerships in place with leading global manufacturers such as Avigilon, Concept Pro and Dell.

Part of Hadrian Technology’s growth can be attributed to its ability to provide innovative CCTV systems that help leading retailers to protect themselves against hugely expensive ‘slip and trip’ claims. The High Definition Internet Protocol (HD-IP) camera systems Hadrian Technology installs act as deterrents and give companies clear, visual evidence when allegations are raised by employees or customers. The high definition footage has the benefit of being accessible from anywhere via tablets, smart phones and laptops.

Hadrian Technology is now installing more than 800 HD-IP cameras every month and expects this number to increase, making the company one of the biggest independently-owned HD-IP installers by volume in the UK.

Also putting the company at the forefront of the industry is its expertise in designing and installing systems that incorporate video analytics. This software helps businesses to maximise their CCTV systems as it analyses recorded footage to produce useful data and customer insights, which can ultimately help them to optimise their marketing strategies and drive sales.

Hadrian Technology’s intelligent CCTV systems enable its retail clients to track customer behaviour using analytics integrated with point of sale transactions, so that they can compare traffic and conversion rates between stores, aisles and display locations. Furthermore, by counting the number of people in each part of a store, heat map analytics can visualise ‘hot zones’ – areas with the most customer activity – which helps retailers maximise in-store promotions, and identify ‘cold zones’ to determine how layout changes could improve traffic flow.

In addition to CCTV systems, Hadrian Technology has also expanded into installing entire fibre-optic backbones and full network infrastructure for large distribution centres.

Hadrian Technology’s rapid expansion has seen the company increase its staff headcount by 500% in the last 12 months. New employees Judith Wilson and Gordon McKeown have joined the team as administration and purchasing assistant and project manager respectively, and the company has also brought in additional commissioning engineers and promoted Richard McKnight to national contracts manager.

The company has plans to recruit at least eight more staff this year, and has heavily invested in staff training on the number of new internal systems that are now in place at the Sunderland office.

Gary Trotter, general manager at Hadrian Technology, said: “We are pleased to have had an extremely successful year in which we have expanded our specialist team, secured several major retail sector contracts and formed partnerships with world-leading manufacturers such as Avigilon.

“We’re now looking forward to building on our success and are set to have an even better year in 2015. The contracts we have already secured will substantially increase our turnover and will enable us to invest in our systems, equipment and staff.”
