March 20 marks the third International Day of Happiness, launched by the United Nations after the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution which recognised happiness as “a fundamental human goal.”

And also playing its part in achieving this aim is The Spa at Ramside near Durham, which has launched a Happy Days Together offer which runs from March 20 to May 1.

The package includes a two course brunch in the spa’s Asian Fusion restaurant, use of the spa facilities, choice of either a 45 minute massage or a facial and then afternoon tea with an Asian twist

“Being happy is such an important part of life,” said Jill Russell, Spa Director at the Spa at Ramside.

“A feeling of wellbeing makes us work better, feel more positive and generally get the most out of life.

“International Day of Happiness gives us the opportunity to focus on the importance of happiness and we hope that people will bring their loved ones to enjoy a day at Ramside.”

The Happy Days Together package costs from £198 per couple and bookings can be made atwww.ramsidespa.co.uk or by contacting the spa on 0191 375 3088.

The Ramside Spa is based at Ramside Hall Hotel near Durham, the largest privately owned hotel in the North East.

The spa boasts a range of facilities including five pools – including one of the UK’s largest hydrotherapy pools and a balcony infinity pool, sleep sanctuary, thermal suite, state-of-the-art gym, Asian Fusion restaurant and a hairdressing salon.

It was also the first in the country to offer the Wellness For Cancer programme, where all spa staff have been trained to ensure that they offer treatment to those either battling the disease or in remission.
