Pools players will wear yellow armbands during Tuesday night’s game against Barnet at Victoria Park as a mark of respect for tragic toddler Jacob Jenkins.
The two-year-old stopped breathing after swallowing a grape while eating with his family at Pizza Hut in Hartlepool on Friday 9th October and was rushed to hospital and placed in an induced coma.
Sadly, he passed away last Wednesday evening at the same time as hundreds of people released yellow balloons at Seaton Carew seafront as a show of support for him and his family.
Yellow was Jacob’s favourite colour and Pools have been given permission by the Football League to wear yellow armbands in their own tribute to him.
All proceeds from sales of Tuesday night’s Matchday Magazine will also be donated directly to the fund set up for Jacob’s family.
“The whole town has been touched by this tragic story and we wanted to pay our respects,” explained Chief Executive Russ Green.
“It’s unimaginable what his parents must be going through at the moment and we wanted to show our support for them and for the rest of Jacob’s family at this time.”
