In a week when the EFL and the leading men’s health charity agreed a two-year extension until 2018, Pools’ fight against the deadly disease continued with the opening of the Prostate Cancer UK Stand at The Northern Gas and Power Stadium.
The Club is indelibly linked with Prostate Cancer UK thanks to Jeff Stelling’s epic Men United March, which took our most famous fan from our home all the way to Wembley earlier this year.
Pools continue to go the extra mile in the battle against the disease and will play in competitive action in front of the new Prostate Cancer UK Stand this weekend when they host Colchester United in League Two.
As part of the continued work between the two parties, Pools’ players and staff posed for a very different team photo below the newly-named stand top show-off the iconic Prostate Cancer UK ‘Man of Men’ logo which will once again appear on the numbers of every EFL player in 2016/17.
Prostate Cancer UK has been affiliated with the EFL since 2012, and Official Charity Partner of the EFL from the 2013/14 campaign, with the two organisations working together to raise awareness of a disease that affects one in eight men in the UK, and raised over £2million to date for vital research.
And for the third successive season, the official logo of Prostate Cancer UK will be worn by more than 60,000 times on players’ shirts in the Sky Bet EFL next season, following a unique agreement between the EFL and its’ Official Charity Partner.
“I’m bursting with pride to be a supporter of Hartlepool United after their efforts during the recent Men United March,” admitted Jeff Stelling.
“Their send-off on Day One was fantastic and what other club would send their team but to intercept the walk on a wet and windy Easter Sunday.
“It gave me and Russ Green an amazing boost, and the news that the Club plan to rename the Town End as the Prostate Cancer UK Stand is another wonderful gesture.”
