Darlington-based Harvey & Hugo has employed Mike Renton, an experienced PR professional who has worked in and with the media for more than six years.

The forward thinking agency, which offers flexible social media, blogging and press release options, is making a real name for itself as one of the few agencies to offer bespoke digital PR services.

This key appointment comes at a significant time for Harvey & Hugo, which, in its seventh year, continues to evolve and expand its client base and services.

Having studied Film and Television Production at university, Mike is a qualified journalist who has worked as a reporter for the York Press, a press officer for Parliament and then settled in public relations two years ago.

Referring to his recent move, Mike said: “I am looking forward to joining the pack and meeting the CEO (Harvey) and Chairman (Hugo) and of course, getting stuck into my new role.

“I know the company has a fantastic reputation across the North East and the team thrive on celebrating the success of businesses, which is what I’m looking forward to being a part of.

“It is exciting to see the company expand its already strong, enthusiastic team and I feel really privileged to be a part of that.”

Mike already has good insight into the company’s key food sector, with experience in working with clients in the industry, as well as having been a chef while at university.

Managing Director Charlotte Nichols, believes he will be a great asset to the team, as he brings knowledge and a vast range of contacts with him.

She said: “Mike’s enthusiasm and fresh ideas are what stood out the most. He is focused on delivering a high level of service to our clients and has already had a huge impact on the development of our services with his deep understanding of our four key sectors: food, education, engineering and sport.

“It’s amazing to see how strong the team has become and there’s a great mix of experience and knowledge running through it. It feels fantastic to have such a committed and professional team and I know the agency is in an excellent position heading into its seventh year of business, which makes me really excited for the future.”

In addition to Mike joining the team, Account Manager Laura Foad, received a promotion to team manager. As a former teacher, her background is a great asset to Harvey & Hugo’s work within the education sector.
