Henderson Insurance Brokers Sunderland targets further growth after successful first year

A thriving Sunderland-based insurance broker is celebrating after a successful first year in business.

Henderson Insurance Brokers Sunderland reported a 54% rise in turnover to £540,000, up from £350,000 since July 2016.

It has also seen its employee count double to 10, since October 2016, which includes creating three new roles over the last three months. The Sunderland office has also won prestigious clients over this period, including Rubb Buildings Ltd.

The firm, which is based on Sunderland Enterprise Park, was formed when Branch Insurance Brokers was acquired by the Henderson Insurance Broking Group in 2016.

The acquisition saw the Henderson Insurance Broking Group, which is one of the top five insurance brokers in the UK, increase its number of branches to 15 throughout the country, including three in the North East – in Newcastle, Stockton and Sunderland.

Henderson Insurance Brokers now has its sights set on achieving a £50m turnover by 2020, building on its current £30m revenues.

Jon Gray, Director at Henderson Insurance Brokers Sunderland, said: “We have enjoyed a very successful first year in Sunderland, ahead of our initial expectations. Over the course of the year we have been able to create additional positions to meet increased demand, with plans to further increase our staff count.

“The firm has already welcomed a raft of new client wins, which will set us up perfectly for the future, and we are now hoping to build on our significant turnover rise and deliver continued growth.

“It is shaping up to be a bright future for the Group as a whole, as we aim to achieve a record turnover over the next three years, and our work in Sunderland and across the North East will help support this ambitious expansion plan.”
