Hero Asda colleague raises £8,000 for the Children’s Foundation

A hero Asda colleague is amid celebration after raising an incredible £8,000 for The Children’s Foundation since starting work for the supermarket nearly a decade ago.
Norman Bloomfield, now 48 spent a year at Byker Asda Living before later moving across the road to the new Asda supermarket branch that opened in 2011. Over his eight-year career with Asda, Norman’s extensive list of charity work has landed him quite the reputation with both colleagues and the community alike.
To date, Norman, has taken part in six Bridges Bike Rides, five Great North Runs and the annual Children’s Cancer Run all of which the incredible colleague will be looking to take part in again this year.
Being a keen supporter of the Children’s Foundation and the children’s cancer ward at the RVI Hospital in Newcastle, Norman is often seen arranging back packs and tombolas in store all with the aim of raising both awareness and funds for the causes he is so passionate about.
Norman Bloomfield, store colleague at Asda Byker said: “I love my job here at Asda, colleagues and customers are fantastic and so supportive of my work day to day.
“It feels great to be in role where I can get involved with the happenings in the community, raise money for charity and continue helping those that need it most.
“This year I’ve reached an impressive milestone, but I have no intention of stopping yet!”
Norman’s tremendous efforts over the last eight years through his various projects and events have seen a massive £8,000 raised for children’s charities.
Ashleigh Longstaff, community colleague at Asda Byker said: “We are proud of all our colleagues at Asda Byker and we are especially proud of Norman for all of his hard work over the last eight years. He’s truly a great asset to the team and what he has achieved is commendable.
“Norman is just one of the many shining examples we have of colleagues going above and beyond their roles within the store.
“On behalf of everyone at Asda, I thank Norman for his dedicated service, his hard work and outstanding loyalty to charity.”
