Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Hett Hills recycling centre hours extended

203Residents are being reminded that Hett Hills HWRC will be opening longer following the Easter weekend.

Hett Hills Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) will open throughout the week from Friday 25 March until Friday 1 April.

The extended hours have been arranged to help reduce congestion at the nearby Annfield Plain and Potterhouse Lane HWRCs, which have tended to get very busy at Easter in previous years.

Hett Hills HWRC will open from 9am until 3.30pm from Friday 25 March until Thursday 31 March and between 9am and 6pm on Friday 1 April.

Residents can also use the sites at Tudhoe and Coxhoe if the Annfield Plain and Potterhouse Lane sites are busy.

From 1 April all HWRCs will change to their summer opening hours, which will remain in place until 30 September.

Details of all HWRCs, including locations and opening hours, are available at Recycling centres (tips) or by calling Durham County Council on 03000 26 1000.

Residents who are planning to visit a HWRC in a van, trailer, mini-bus or pick-up will need to apply for a free waste permit in advance. This can be done at www.durham.gov.uk/householdpermit or by calling 03000 26 1000.

Commercial waste produced by businesses and landlords is not accepted at HWRCs and must be disposed of by a registered waste carrier. Details can be found at www.durham.gov.uk/article/1878/Waste-Disposal
