Organisers of the fifth annual Christmas at the Cathedral concert have two free VIP tickets to give away to the man and woman with the North East’s most Christmassy name. From Berwick to Middlesbrough, Sunderland to Hartlepool and Whitley bay to Hexham the search is on.
This year, the star studded show will raise funds for one of the region’s most endearing charities; The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation funds projects within the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that directly benefit cancer patients from across north east England and Cumbria and which also contribute significantly to international research into the disease.
Vital funds will be raised from the concert as a wealth of celebrity stars perform songs, readings and comedy sketches while choirs will sing both traditional festive songs and Christmas Carols. The concert will take place on Thursday, December 15 at St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle. The audience can expect a high calibre of entertainment as in previous years established stars such as Tim Healy, Chelsea Halfpenny, Charlie Hardwick, Denise Welch, Rebecca Root and Billy Mitchell have performed to the delighted crowd.
Jonathan Wallis from Barnard Castle who organises the event is keeping tight lipped about the stars that are set to shine on the night but he is also really excited about finding the North East’s Mr. or Mrs. Christmas.
” We know that there are people out there with Christmas sounding names. It would be great to find a man and woman with a festive Christian and Surname that we could have in the audience or even on the stage if they were willing. It’s for a great cause and it’s all just a bit of fun.There’s two free VIP tickets for the winners.”
Christmas at the Cathedral will take place on December 15 at 7pm. Tickets are £10 plus booking fees and are now available from the Theatre Royal box office on 0844 811 2121. A small amount of VIP tickets are still available.
