Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

HOLLY’S ADMIRATION FOR INTERIORS FIRM LEADS TO CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Holly Jackson, the latest recruit to join the award-winning interior design team at Dakota House of Design in Newcastle, has had her eye on her new employer since arriving in Newcastle from Northampton to study.

Her childhood plans of becoming a dancer changed when she began studying for a graphic design GCSE and a product design A-level, which led to her deciding that creating spaces for people to enjoy over individual products was where her future lay.

About to graduate with a BA (Hons) in Interior Design, her new role as a junior designer sees Holly creating mood boards, liaising with clients and assisting other members of the design team day-to -day. Commenting on her new job, she said:

“When Dakota approached the university wanting to hire one of its graduates, I applied instantly as I had always had my eye on the company from when I first moved to Newcastle. Additionally, I had always wanted to live in Newcastle, so it was a simple decision.

“I really enjoy producing initial designs that get the client excited and seeing that vision come to life, adding my creative spin on designs. Having a job in the industry now means I get to see my ideas developed, which never happened at university.

“I planned to go into the industry straight from university, so this is a fabulous opportunity for me. I hope to progress my career with Dakota and have a lasting impact on the company. In the future, I hope to become a lead designer. I am currently working on a nightclub, a casino and a cocktail bar, so I am already extremely busy!”

Dakota director, Terri Naylor, added: “We are thrilled to have appointed Holly. She is a talented young designer and has fitted into the team exceptionally well. We have already set her to work on a variety of schemes and she has the makings of a first-class lead designer.

“We look forward to seeing her further develop her confidence, skills and creativity in the future.”

With its extensive knowledge of leisure, hospitality and residential interiors, Dakota is renowned for the creativity of its experienced team, which works at locations throughout the UK and Europe for established brands such as Malmaison, Genting, Aspers, Marco Pierre White and café chain, Baker & Spice in London.
