Hopes and Heroes Author Visit

CaptureFOOTBALL fans can meet their “hero” football author John Phelan at a special event on Thursday 10 March from 11am-3pm in the Centre for Local Studies at Crown Street Library, Darlington.

Football historian and Northern Echo sports archive memories writer, John Phelan, has written a book called ‘Hopes and Heroes’. Featuring more than 300 illustrations and 600 pages, the book tells the story of the FA Cup competition and the exploits of the football clubs from the following towns and villages:

Bishop Auckland, Chilton, Cockfield, Coundon, Crook, Eldon, Evenwood, Ferryhill, Howden-Le-Wear, Leasingthorne, Shildon, Spennymoor, Stanley, Tow Law, West Auckland, Willington, Witton Park and Wolsingham.

Anyone can drop in to meet John. He will be available to sign copies of his book on sale for  £15 each or £12 for members of the Durham Amateur Football Trust.
