Employees of a Durham housing group have helped to raise more than £1,400 with their cake and cuppa approach to a national charity event.

Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes and East Durham Homes, as part of County Durham Housing Group, are donating £1401.30 to Macmillan Cancer Support after taking part in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.

The vast sum was raised through a whole host of events including bake-offs, raffles , leg waxing and rides on virtual rollercoasters.

Bill Fullen, County Durham Housing Group Chief Executive, said: “This is a fantastic outcome for such a worthwhile cause, and shows what can be achieved by working together.”

Friday, 30 September 2016 saw Macmillan Cancer Support’s 26th ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, with events taking place across the country in aid of the charity’s work.
