Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

How and where to watch the Champions League final in the North East

It’s the biggest European club cup competition of the year and it’s just a matter of days to go until Spurs take on Liverpool for a shot at European glory.

Of course. Spurs are underdogs, despite having humbled Man City across two-legs, but it wouldn’t be fair to right off Pochettino’s outfit as they face-up against 5-times champions Liverpool.

There will be twists and turns, the Spurs and Liverpool tips and predictions have already started to pour in ; some say Tottenham will claim glory, others say the reds have had their name on the trophy since the start; regardless of who you support, you will no doubt be in for an entertaining evening.

But if you’re gearing up to witness the biggest match of the season how and where do you watch it? Date night might have to be moved and the sound of smooth jazz replaced by that atmospheric Champions League anthem, but decisions need to be made, and fast.

Here’s a lowdown on how to watch the Champions League final in the North East and surrounding areas:

How to watch

Ahh. Unfortunately gone are the days where you could just hit ITV and instantly receive coverage; now it takes a little bit more effort than switching over to channel 3. However, despite not being free to watch on terrestrial TV, both European finals, including the Europa League showdown between Chelsea and Arsenal, will be shown on BT Sport absolutely free, even though customers normally need to have a content subscription to watch games live.

YouTube

Especially good if you want to watch the game but you’re out and about on the go, BT Sport says it will screen both finals for free, on Youtube as well. From smartphones to tablets, the game will be available to stream on any platform.

BT Sport app

If you don’t have the BT Sport app but want to watch the Champions League final for free, head on to the app store and download the BT sport app. Be careful of your data if you’re not on wi-fi but this will ensure you can watch the match with almost uninterrupted coverage and the definition will be watchable on smaller and bigger screens

Online

Laptop, or even desktop users, aren’t overlooked either because you can simply visit the BT website, login, and watch the match for free.

Virgin

If you have Virgin, both European finals games will be accessible via the BT Sport 2 channel. However, if you have Sky though you will need a subscription to watch.

Where to watch?

Whilst the comfort of the sofa and a few cold ones in the fridge might be a bit too much to resist, there are some great places to go and watch the game; and what’s more you can make a whole day of it too.

Fancy a day out in the North East? There’s plenty events on for the couples, singletons or families and there’s a plethora of great local bars and pubs in Sunderland that will be showing the match.

The same goes fo a number of cities and town in the region; the majority of pubs and bars will be streaming the ultimate club cup final but perhaps get in there a little earlier so you can grab your seat in the more popular places.
