Visitors to the National Festival of Thrift can vote to support the event after its nomination for two prestigious national awards.

The UK’s national celebration of sustainable living, which attracted over 45,000 visitors to Kirkleatham near Redcar over the weekend of 23 and 24 September, is shortlisted for the best family festival as well as best medium festival categories in this year’s UK Festival Awards.

The winners are decided by a combination of public vote and industry judges.

The director of the National Festival of Thrift, Stella Hall, said that it was a great boost to be chosen as a finalist and a chance for visitors to show their enduring support for the event which is focused on spreading the word about good eco-friendly living.

“It’s wonderful to be recognised and up there amongst some of the UK’s best-known events.  Over the past five years we have built a following of amazing visitors who are incredibly passionate and loyal about our event so it’s a great chance for them to have their say and share their love of the festival.”

Since its inception in 2004, the UK Festival Awards have been dedicated to recognising and celebrating the collective accomplishments of the nation’s most beloved industry.

Across its 21 categories, the Awards acknowledges the achievements of organisers and suppliers in the fields of programming, production, innovation, emerging talent, marketing, hospitality, catering and more.

Each category has its shortlist and winner determined via a combination of public vote and industry judges, and for 2017 this methodology has been further refined to ensure that the prestige of these internationally recognised accolades continues to increase.
