It’s time to swap the board games for the board room as this half term sees the launch of intu Metrocentre’s search for two enthusiastic north east youngsters to appoint as its new Heads of Fun.
With compulsory playtime, a huge dressing-up box and some mischievous Metrognomes for company, this really is a job vacancy like no other; sadly not for grown-ups, only children between the ages of five and nine can apply.
intu Metrocentre’s current Heads of Fun, Ben Osborne and Connie Barber, both age 7, are reaching the end of their year long contract and they’re encouraging children in the north east to send in their CVs.
Connie and Ben have enjoyed a fun-packed year at the shopping centre, where their responsibilities have included opening Santa’s Grotto, switching on the Christmas lights, taking to the catwalk for a fashion show, performing on stage at Saltwell Park Fireworks, meeting the Mayor of Gateshead and sampling the children’s menus at intu Metrocentre’s extensive dining quarter.
The Heads of Fun play an important role leading intu Metrocentre’s Kids’ Club, ensuring that the centre continues to be child friendly and provides a host of free fun events and activities for children in the region. The lucky candidates get to experience money can’t buy fun with the centre’s retailers as well as the chance to play a huge part in the centre’s events.
Eager young shoppers who think they’re up to the challenge can pick up an application form from any customer services desk from Monday 12 February or download a copy from www.intu.co.uk/metrocentre. Creativity is encouraged so artwork, poetry, songs and dances can all be used to explain why they’d be perfect for the role.
All applications must be received by Monday 5 March, interviews will take place after 19 March and their first official job will take place in the Easter holidays.
Helen Atkinson, marketing manager at intu Metrocentre, said:
Our Heads of Fun are indispensable – they bring joy to everything they do and give us a child’s eye view of intu Metrocentre, helping us to deliver an enhanced shopping experience to visitors of all ages.
We’re looking for entrants who are brimming with enthusiasm, confidence and creativity, not to mention having an infectious sense of fun! Ben and Connie have excelled in their roles and really made it their own – we can’t wait to see this year’s exciting new candidates, all hoping to land the best job in the north east.”
Ben Osborne, Head of Fun at intu Metrocentre, commented: “We’ve had an awesome time as Heads of Fun – we’ve tried out loads of new things and got to be pirates and astronauts and help raise money for charity. My favourite thing was cutting the ribbon to open Santa’s Grotto and switching on the Christmas lights.”
Connie Barber, Head of Fun at intu Metrocentre, added: “Being a Head of Fun was brilliant – we had loads of fun and so will you! If you want to be Head of Fun this year, visit the intu Metrocentre website – good luck!”
