North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

intu Metrocentre makes a racket for inclusive tennis

Tennis AnyBody at intu Eldon SquareA tennis racket has been spray painted onto disabled parking bays at intu Metrocentre to mark the first year Wimbledon has held wheelchair singles events and promote the inclusive nature of tennis.

Run in partnership with the nation’s lead tennis charity the Tennis Foundation on the 10th anniversary of disabled doubles at Wimbledon, the message #TennisAnyBody has also been sprayed onto bays as part of the campaign encouraging people of all backgrounds to play tennis.

More than 250 parking spaces at intu shopping centres across the country have been painted with the motif by the Tennis Foundation and creative agency Now

Gavin Prior, General Manager at intu Metrocentre said: “Wimbledon may be over for another year but we’re hoping to put a smile on the face of North East shoppers with our newly decorated disabled parking bays which celebrate the great work of the Tennis Foundation in turning the game into an inclusive sport for all.

“We’re proud to be backing this campaign as part of our mission to build social togetherness and tackle social issues in the communities that we serve.”
