NORTH East shoppers are being offered the chance to win a big treat – by sitting on a big seat.
On 30 and 31 May, visitors to intu Metrocentre, Gateshead, will be invited to sit on a giant chair at Exhibition Square – and, if they are lucky, a klaxon will sound to announce that they have been picked at random to win a prize.
Dozens of treats will be on offer, ranging from free drinks and meals at bars and restaurants within intu Metrocentre, to free bowling at Namco Funscape and tickets to see the comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Sunderland Empire.
And those who are not lucky enough to win a Big Treat Seat prize on the day could still win a prize, by sharing a photograph of themselves in the Big Treat Seat on social media.
The Big Treat Seat prizes are among a host of Big Treats on offer at the centre throughout the course of the weekend.
Therapists from Ramside Hall Hotel, whose new Spa is scheduled to open in August, will be offering complimentary hand treatments and visitors will be able to enter a prize draw to win a luxury spa experience for two and other treats.
At Lower Red Mall a series of beauty stations will be offering free makeovers, manicures, and blow dries, from industry experts such as Cover Beauty, Topshop and House of Fraser’s Show Beauty and Molton Brown.
There will also be the chance to sample a variety of foods at the Big Treat Kitchen in Exhibition Square, which will also host a series of 45 minute food demonstrations from top North East restaurants, such as Zizzi, Wagamamas, Big Lukes and Angeethi.
For younger visitors, the Platinum Mall will be transformed into a gamer’s paradise, with arcade classics, such as Pacman, from Namco Funscape, along with giant Connect-4, Snakes and Ladders and Jenga.
They can then head for the Upper Green Mall for a cookie decorating class – and they may also get a surprise visit from the Metrognomes, who will be greeting shoppers during the weekend.
The beauty station and food demonstrations will take place between 10am and 6pm on Saturday and 11am and 5pm on Sunday.
