A North East IT provider is helping a girls football team look the part by sponsoring its kit.

Concept IT, which is based in Tanfield Lea, offers fully managed IT services to small and medium-sized businesses across the region.

It has recently announced its sponsorship of a new kit Tanfield Lea Community Primary School girls football team.

Concept managing director Kevin Embleton – a former pupil of the school himself – said: “I’m really pleased to be in a position to sponsor the girls’ team, and they look raring to go in their new kit.

“Football has a shortage of female players and tech really struggles to attract women too. By sponsoring the kit, we’re delighted to be doing our bit to help get more women and girls into both.”

Mark Temple, deputy headteacher at Tanfield Lea Community Primary, said that many girls in the school had been inspired to play following the Lioness’s Euro 2022 win.

He added: “We are so grateful to have Concept IT sponsor our kit, as it was looking rather tired.

“We have seen an upsurge in interest in girls’ football, inspired by the Lionesses’ win, and Kevin’s vision of more female participation in IT as well as sport is a vision we share.

“The girls are over the moon at their purple kit and can’t wait to represent the school in it.”
