Hundreds of corporate supporters were invited to the Stadium of Light, home of Barclays Premier League side SAFC, for a special networking event ahead of the club’s first home game of the 2015/2016 season.

The Countdown to Kick Off evening, organised by SAFC and its specialist subsidiary 1879 Events Management, included a chance to sample dishes from the venue’s new set menus, which have been carefully crafted for corporate and private events, as well as matchday hospitality.

This included sweet and sour prawns, chicken tikka, pulled pork sliders and beef stew, along with a selection of desserts such as Eton mess and lemon sponge.

There was also an opportunity to take a tour of the Stadium of Light and its wide range of function rooms for events involving up to 1000 guests, while also learning about 1879 Event Management’s current corporate offers.

These range from complimentary canapés and sparkling wine for functions booked at the Stadium or its sister sites, National Glass Centre and The Beach House, to discounts of up to 10 per cent for offsite events.

During the evening guests were given details of other forthcoming events at the Stadium of Light, including the launch of the new 141 bedroom Hilton Hotel, which is due to open adjacent to the Stadium in spring 2016.

SAFC’s first team, their head coach, Dick Advocaat and members of the club’s ladies team were also on hand throughout the event to meet key clients and pose for pictures.

Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director at SAFC and 1879 Events Management, said: “The 2015/2016 season is shaping up to be an exciting one for SAFC and 1879 Events Management, both on and off the pitch.

“The Countdown to Kick Off event was an ideal opportunity for us to introduce our key clients and corporate supporters to the team, as well as our new range of menus and corporate offers and to start the season in style.”
