KINGSTON Park will play host to a huge tag rugby festival on Friday 22 June as part of the ongoing partnership between the Falcons Community Foundation and independent supply teaching agency, First Class Supply.
Over 60 teams made up from students at KS2 from across the region are signed up to take part in the festival and will play games on the main pitch at the home ground of Newcastle Falcons and Newcastle Thunder.
Launched at the start of the 2017/18 season, the First Class Supply Schools Connections programme has seen over 300 young people receive additional rugby coaching as part of the programme and 250 students and teachers attend Falcons’ home games at Kingston Park.
The First Class Supply Schools Connections Programme aims to develop strong partnerships with schools in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, Durham, Cumbria and Teesside by supporting affiliated schools.
Educators can tailor their own delivery programme within their allocated number of contact time, which can be used to include player visits and guest coaching sessions along with numerous benefits and incentives, including priority booking on CPD events and entry into schools competitions at Kingston Park Stadium.
Thanks to the generous support of First Class Supply, the fastest growing independent supply teaching agency in the North East, five schools across the region enjoyed the top level of three packages available free, further enhancing the reach of the programme.
Lesley Robinson, director of First Class Supply said: “The tag rugby festival is a fantastic opportunity for pupils across the region to train and learn new skills at the Falcons’ home ground.
“The First Class Supply Schools Connections programme enables children to experience new activities and discover skills they perhaps didn’t realise they had. Events like this one allows young people to demonstrate what they have learned, and more importantly to have fun with like-minded individuals and meet other pupils from across the North East.
“Our partnership with Newcastle Falcons is very natural and we can’t wait to continue working alongside them in the future.”
