The event, which was open to letting agents and new and existing landlords alike, was held by the Housing Services team at Ryedale District Council with assistance from the National Landlords Association.

It featured an array of exhibition stands representing local and national organisations, each with valuable expertise in a variety of areas. Stallholders included the National Landlords Association, Ryedale District Council and local lettings agency, Bulmers.

Stalls and practical demonstrations from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarm specialists AICO were particularly well received by guests.

Experts from Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors were also at hand to offer landlords with specialist legal guidance.

Ryedale landlords were invited to watch a series of presentations on brand new legislation such as the changes to the Immigration Act 2014, the Deregulation Act 2015 and retaliatory eviction, as well as information on Housing Benefit and Council Tax issues, fire safety and council assistance schemes for landlords.

Shaun Sutcliffe, Lettings Officer at Ryedale District Council said, “The event was a great opportunity for us to engage with landlords in the private sector and update them on the major changes that are taking place for them. In our exit survey, all attendees provided us with positive feedback for all aspects of the event”.
