Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

209Private Landlords, Agents and any other organisations with an interest in Private Sector Housing are being urged to attend a special landlords forum later this month.

The event run by Hambleton District Council takes place on Tuesday 28 June at Evolution Business Centre, County Business Park, Darlington Road, Northallerton at 1.30pm.

Representatives from Housing Options Team, Environmental Health Officers and the Fire Service will be available to advise on the services they offer and changes to legislation that affects all landlords.

Regulations came out last year requiring all private rented properties, regardless of type or the number of tenants, to have a smoke alarm fitted on each storey of the property where any room is used as living accommodation and to have carbon monoxide alarms fitted in any room used as tenants’ living accommodation which has a solid fuel appliance such as wood burning stoves coal fires

Landlords must also check that each alarm is in proper working order on the day a new tenancy begins and the landlord or manager of a property failing to meet the new regulations could face a fine of up to £5,000.

For further information or any landlord or agent interested in attending the Landlords Forum should contact Marion Harrison on 01609 767216 or email marion.harrison@hambleton.gov.uk.

If you are unable to attend and would like to be added to the mailing list email marion.harrison@hambleton.gov.uk.
