Last Call for Leading UK Duathlon in Stockton

CaptureONE of the premier Duathlon events in the country will take centre stage in Stockton on Sunday 24 April.

Set against the striking backdrop of the River Tees, the run-cycle-run race format will see participants of all levels of ability compete in the Novice, Sprint and Standard challenges. The deadline for any final entries to any of the races is this coming Sunday (17 April).

The different distances offer the chance for people of all fitness levels to get involved and choose the race that suits their ability all within a safe closed road circuit.

The Standard distance has cash prizes up for grabs for both male and female entrants while also playing host to the Triathlon England National Duathlon Championships.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The Stockton Duathlon continues to go from strength to strength and we will see the event’s popularity when the action gets under way on Sunday.

“Now in its fourth year, the Duathlon will welcome over 800 participants taking part in the various races on the day. This is your final chance to register your place, lace up your running shoes and be part of a thrilling day.

“If you’re not competing yourself, I encourage everyone to come down to Stockton Riverside and cheer on all of our budding athletes whether they are running for fitness and fun or competing for a top spot in their race.”

Those not taking part can take in the atmosphere free of charge at Stockton Riverside. The Novice race gets under way at 9am, the Sprint at 11am and the Standard distance starts at 1pm.
