North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

LEADING COUNTY DURHAM SOLICITORS SEE THE LIGHT…

AN award-winning County Durham law firm is helping throw some light on what promises to be one of the region’s biggest events of the year.

Light festival Lumiere is set to return for a spectacular 10th anniversary event this November, with around 30 bespoke installations around Durham, created by internationally acclaimed artists.

And once again the festival, produced by arts charity Artichoke and commissioned by Durham County Council, has won the support of EMG Solicitors, who are sponsoring one of the installations.

Lumiere attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors and is able to take place because of a range of funders and supporters, including Arts Council England and Durham University.

And for EMG Solicitors, based at Abbeywoods Business Park, this also offers an opportunity for the firm to show their support for the local community.

This is the second time that the company has sponsored the event, as part of its on-going commitment to a range of charities and community projects across the North East.

“As a company based in Durham it’s important for us to give something back to the area and sponsoring one of the installations means we are helping an event which makes a huge economic impact,” said Emma Gaudern, managing director of EMG Solicitors.

“It’s an incredible event which two years ago made a £9.6m boost to the regional economy and we’re delighted to have been able to play our part in supporting that.

Sponsoring Lumiere is one of a number of community activities which EMG supports.

They include organising the firm’s annual WonderLAN Ball which is also held each November, raising money for Headway’s LAN (Look Ahead in the North) weekend.

The weekend gives people who have suffered brain injuries the opportunity to enjoy an activity filled break at The Calvert Trust at Kielder.

EMG was also a strong supporter of The Great North Snowdogs Trail in 2016, buying one of the dogs which currently resides at the company’s head office.

Sarah Coop, Development Director at Artichoke, said: “EMG Solicitors are a truly innovative firm, and their support of Lumiere for the second year running sees them make a huge contribution to making this 10 year anniversary edition a spectacular and memorable one for the people of Durham.

“We’re thrilled to be working with them again, and special mention must go to Emma Gaudern, who is a supportive and dynamic addition to our Lumiere Development Board.”

EMG, was founded by Emma Gaudern and Jemma Morland in 2014, employing just a handful of staff covering a select number of areas.

Now marking its fifth anniversary, the firm has gone from strength to strength, moving into an impressive two-story building to house its ever-expanding team, who work across a range of legal services.
