A regional law firm is celebrating a period of strong business growth with the appointment of Solicitor Oliver Hebdon and has doubled the size of its corporate offering in the last two years.
Oliver’s appointment at Stockton-based Archers Law has further enhanced the corporate department, which was recognised in the September Legal 500 as the only Teesside corporate team to receive top tier status.
Oliver brings with him legal expertise in acquisitions and disposals involving local and national private companies and small to medium sized businesses. He has worked closely with successful organisations throughout the North East across a range of specialisms including education, charity, engineering, manufacturing and professional services sectors.
His breadth of knowledge will be employed to advise clients in relation to a wide range of company and commercial matters, including articles of association, shareholders agreements, terms and conditions, supply agreements, company reorganisations, company restructures and general company law.
On joining the company, Oliver said: “I am delighted to be part of such a well-regarded law firm in the North East. Archers Law boasts an incredibly strong corporate department which constantly delivers outstanding results for clients, and I am very much looking forward to working with companies to provide strategic advice in my areas of specialism.”
The appointment of Oliver follows an earlier boost in the team’s resource with Solicitor Jayne Jones joining in 2017 and Daniel Flounders’ promotion to Partner in 2019. The team’s success has led to growth of its mergers and acquisitions services across the region in the past 24 months.
Highlighting its recent achievements, Archers Law has provided legal support for a number of high value mergers and acquisitions projects on behalf of its clients. The firm acted as the sole shareholder of Subsea Innovation Limited – a global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of complex engineered equipment and technology – in a £4 million share sale to Tekmar Group Plc.
The Teesside legal practice also led on all aspects of corporate and property law for a project which involved a £5 million share sale of a pharmacy group, including working with the client and their accountants from the initial structuring of the deal to its full conclusion along with various other transactions over the past 18 months totalling over £100 million in deal value.
David Adams, Partner and Head of Corporate says: “Corporate transactions can be challenging for clients, particularly when a client is selling a business they have grown and developed for many years. We pride ourselves not only on providing excellent technical advice but also in making the process as smooth and as stress free as possible.
“Our recent appointment of Oliver supports the growth of the team and the increase in the number of deals from clients has meant ensuring we have the right level of legal expertise to provide a first-class provision.
“We remain committed to providing our corporate customers with the high level of service which has been the catalyst for our organic growth and enable us to achieve our growth strategy going forward.”
Archers Law has longstanding roots in the regional area. It has grown from humble beginnings on the high street to a modern law firm employing nearly 70 talented people across its business and personal legal teams. The company was shortlisted for ‘Law Firm of the Year (6-plus Partners)’ at the Northern Law Awards, with David Adams winning ‘Lawyer of the Year’ and Dan Flounders ‘Rising Star of the Year’ in previous years.
