Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 11.09.50AN AWARD-winning North East spa is giving visitors peace of mind – after launching a programme of mindfulness events.

The Spa at Ramside, at Ramside Hall Hotel near Durham, is offering a range of workshops, private healing sessions and a two day retreat during June aimed at helping people relax and find ways of dealing with every day stresses.

The spa has brought on board former Buddhist monk and internationally renowned mindfulness teacher, Felix Lopez, to lead a range of events, offering those taking part a rare opportunity to work with this acclaimed spiritual leader.

Mindfulness – which is growing in popularity – helps people live in the present and to move the focus away from worrying about the past or the future.

The two night retreat, which runs from 23 – 26 June, will include sessions with Felix and with Wellness for Cancer founder, Julie Bach, who will run morning and evening meditation sessions.

The programme is also offering a range of one day events, including a Silent Night Evening Workshop on June 24, where participants are able to experience what the spa has to offer – but in silence.

Led by Felix, the event will be held in the spa’s Sleep Sanctuary where those taking part will be encouraged to slow down and reconnect with their true selves.

On Thursday 23 June, Felix Lopez will also be hosting a one day mindfulness workshop, introducing people to the concept and giving them the opportunity to try a number of therapies including breathing techniques, meditation and guided relaxation.

Jill Russell, Spa Director, said that a holistic approach to wellbeing has always been a priority at the Spa at Ramside.

“It’s very important for us to be able to introduce people to ways they can stay relaxed and cope with the challenges of everyday life once they have left the spa,” said Jill.

“The Spa at Ramside was the first in the UK to embrace the Wellness for Cancer programme and we are offering all of our members and visitors the opportunity to learn some amazing techniques which can really improve their wellbeing.

“We are really fortunate to have people of the calibre of Felix and Julie supporting these events and I’m sure they will be life changing for those who take part.”

Prices for the events start from £35 for the Silent Night event to £405 a person (£350 if sharing a room) for the two night retreat which includes two nights in a premier room, two evening meals in the Asian Fusion restaurants, spa brunch each day, use of the spa facilities, group meditation and mindfulness sessions and one to one sessions with Julie Bach.
