GIN-lovers can raise a toast to their favourite tipple, when a special festival makes its Newcastle debut this summer.

On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 August, The Gin Society will be showcasing some of the world’s finest gins, at The CastleGate, Melbourne Street, Newcastle.

And along with the chance to buy more than 95 gins – including Northumberland-based Alnwick Gin –  festival goers will be able to find out more about the fashionable spirit.

Distillers will give an insight into the history of the spirit, talk about the distilling process and share their skills in a series of gin masterclasses.

There will also be vintage-themed entertainment, courtesy of a DJ, with live dancing by Newcastle Lindy.

The Gin Festival will take place on Friday from 18 August from 6.30pm to 11pm and on Saturday 19 August from 12.30pm to 5pm and 6.30pm and 11pm.

Tickets for each session cost £7.50 plus booking fee and the cost includes a bespoke Gin Society souvenir gin goblet and a booklet of tasting notes.

All gins and Fentimans tonics with special garnishes are priced at £5 and the Prosecco cocktails cost £10 each.
