Library to close for essential maintenance work

A County Durham library is to close temporarily to enable essential maintenance work to be carried out.

Shildon Library will be closed for six weeks from Friday, 17 November while structural repairs are undertaken.

During the closure, Woodhouse Close Library will be open for an additional two days a week and the borrowing limit on books will be increased.

In addition, a ‘click and collect’ service will operate from Shildon Sunnydale Leisure Centre, allowing customers to reserve books online for collection on Mondays between 9.30am and 5pm.

Library cards are valid for use in all Durham County Council libraries so customers can return, borrow or renew books at any Durham County Council library, including those at Woodhouse Close, Coundon, Bishop Auckland Town Hall and Newton Aycliffe.

All libraries offer computer facilities, which can be booked online at www.durham.gov.uk/libraryonline.

Books can also be reserved or renewed online.

The library will reopen at 10am on Tuesday, 2 January.
