LOCAL charities are benefiting from the generosity of visitors to this season’s Stewart Park Frost Fair.
The Fair, a popular feature of the Park’s Christmas celebrations in December, featured a fund-raising prize draw and Christmas wish activity.
All prizes – including gifts from The Therapy Centre, gift vouchers from Deep Hairdressing, a free gents’ haircut from Wayne Paul Barbers and flowers from Fleur Maison Florists – were donated by local traders at Marton shops and craft items from stallholders who attend the popular Craft Fairs.
Tickets on the day were sold for £1 each, while visitors helped to decorate the Stewart Park Christmas tree with Christmas wishes in exchange for a £1 donation per wish.
A total of just over £160 was raised, with £83.60 going to Teesside Hospice and the same amount to Zoe’s Place.
The donations were presented to representatives of the two charities when they visited the Park on Friday (January 16).
Stewart Park Horticultural Advisor Nicky Morgan said: “We would like to thank all visitors to the Stewart Park Frost Fair for their support for this fund-raising and for their continued support for our events throughout the year.
“We have a packed programme of events lined up for 2015, and we look forward to helping local good causes throughout the year.”
