A pupil from Pegswood Primary School has helped inspire the name of a new housing development from Barratt Homes North East in Pegswood. The five star housebuilder launched a competition with the school to name the development, with the winning entry and name of the development being Blossom Park.

Not only were the pupils asked to come up with the name of the development, but also five additional street names. Barratt Homes received dozens of entries from pupils at Pegswood Primary School, as they were tasked with creating names that reflected the nature in the area, representing Barratt Homes’ recently renewed partnership with the RSPB.

The winning entries were:

Blossom Park

Bluebell Rise

Rose Gardens

Poppy Lane

Appletree View

Iris Drive

The winning pupil received a £50 Amazon voucher for creating the winning name for the development and other pupils received £20 Amazon vouchers for their winning street names. The children will have the chance to visit the development and see their street names printed on the signs, once the development is completed.

Christie Edge, Sales Manager at Barratt Homes North East, commented: “We always look to support the communities in which we build and develop a strong relationship with them, which is why we wanted to team up with the pupils at Pegswood Primary School when naming this development. We received some brilliant, wildlife-themed entries and everyone did an excellent job, so we’d like to congratulate the winners and thank everyone at the school for their efforts!”

Andrew Waterfield, Head Teacher at Pegswood Primary School, commented: “The children had great fun coming up with names for Barratt Homes’ new development and we will take great pride in seeing our pupil’s winning names come to life over the year.  We would like to thank Barratt Homes for letting us be a part of their new development and giving the children such a brilliant opportunity.”
