John Clayton Press ShotDarlington based radio station proves to be a star after latest figures from RAJAR (Radio Joint Audience Research) show its strong performance.

The Q4 2014 results, which were published this month, show that Star Radio North East is the most popular local radio station in the area for its target demographic. With a total of 54,300 listeners throughout a week, 16,400 more listeners than its most relevant competitor.

Unlike competitors, since the radio station’s managing director John Clayton took over in February 2014, Star has demonstrated an impressive increase quarter on quarter, including 12% increase in female listeners and 11% increase in total listeners.

Due to a new and experienced management team, Star ended the first quarter of this financial year on a massive high after it achieved a remarkable 78% increase in month end revenues.

Mr Clayton said: “For the first time in a long time, we are telling our clients and potential clients to plan their future campaigns, months in advance, as our airtime is just getting so busy.

“We have exciting future plans for Star Radio. We are committed to provide County Durham, Darlington and North Yorkshire with a genuine locally focussed product that eats, sleeps and breaths the areas that we serve.”

The UKRD owned radio station allows you to target an audience of 116,000 listeners over a 13 week business campaign.
