When it comes to supporting local tradesmen and businesses, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone is truly leading the way, having employed a team of local contractors in Morpeth and the surrounding areas, to deliver its new development,William Turner Court, which is on Goose Hill.

Led by Site Manager Neil Lister, McCarthy and Stone has invested heavily in the local workforce. Since construction began on the development it has created a number of jobs for local tradesmen. Neil estimates that 25 people are currently working on the site every day and are made up of a mixture of skilled labourers, bricklayers and joiners. It is estimated that as the site continues to progress, a further 35 jobs in areas such as plumbing, electrics, and tiling will follow, moving the number to around 60 people working on the site each day.

Neil, comments: “McCarthy and Stone’s commitment to sourcing its tradesmen from the local work pool provides a welcome boost to Morpeth and the wider community. We have a number of workers who live in close proximity to the site, with our slinger banksman, Eddie McGlaughlin, living just a quarter of a mile from the development.

“William Turner Court is still in its infancy but we’ve already had a number of local contractors working across the site, and the importance of employing local workforces and family businesses cannot be underestimated. As William Turner Court continues to progress we will be looking to recruit more skilled tradesmen from the local and surrounding areas.”

Set to welcome its first homeowners in spring 2018, William Turner Court will comprise a stylish collection of one and two bedroom private apartments, exclusively for those aged 60 and over.

Designed to provide homeowners with the very best in independent living within an environment that is safe and secure, the development offers retirees the privacy of their own apartment with the option to enjoy the companionship of others if they choose to.

Homeowners will find all the standard features of a McCarthy and Stone Retirement Living development, including a stunning home owner’s lounge, ideal for enjoying a cup of tea with friends and neighbours, beautifully landscaped gardens fully maintained by McCarthy and Stone’s expert team, and a guest suite for friends and family who come to stay. For added peace of mind, a House Manager will be available during office hours to ensure the smooth-running of the development, and there will be a 24 hour emergency call system should assistance be needed day or night.
