Take a “First Class” tour of contemporary art as you journey through railway history, thanks to a new exhibition by Interface Arts at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon.
This exciting display will showcase a wide range of artist practice – from ceramics, drawings, glass, lino-prints, to mixed media, paintings, sculpture and textiles.
Pieces by Interface Arts will be displayed amongst the vehicles on show at Locomotion: The NRM at Shildon – aiming to confront, surprise and intrigue the visitor by using unexpected display locations to juxtapose contemporary art with railway heritage.
The exhibition opens on Wednesday August 16 and will remain on display until Wednesday October 4.
First established in 2008, County Durham based Interface Arts is well known for its diverse creative work exhibited in group and solo events throughout the North East. Several members also regularly feature more widely in UK galleries and participate in events abroad.
Interface Arts organises a full programme of activities, combining regular group exhibitions, gallery visits, outdoor sketching opportunities, social meetings, and promotion of their practice through workshops and demonstrations.
Currently affiliated to both the Oriental Museum in Durham, and Locomotion: The NRM at Shildon, members meet in each venue on alternate months.
