EL0338_001Rockliffe Hall, in Hurworth near Darlington, has announced major expansion plans for 2015.

The 5* resort is to develop a new ‘Spa Garden’- the only one of its kind in the North East- within its grounds to further enhance its award-winning spa facilities.

The new development is set to open in the autumn and work on the 200 meters square spa garden is now underway with local contractors, Wharton Construction from Darlington, managing the project.

The new Spa Garden will be adjacent to the current spa and will have two outdoor hot pools including an infinity edge hydrotherapy pool with massage features and a warm Jacuzzi, under-floor heated decking and lounging areas, a garden room with a traditional glass-fronted sauna cabin, fire pit, water feature, landscaped gardens with views across Rockliffe Hall’s grounds and heated relaxation loungers.

The spa team is now developing a range of new treatments, spa days and promotions, working with high profile brands to introduce new experiences for the launch of the Spa Garden.

Rockliffe Hall’s spa has become one of the most successful in the UK and was recently the only spa in the North to receive a Good Spa Guide award- the ‘Best Spa for Sheer Luxury’, competing against high profile spas including Dormy House, Chewton Glen and Pennyhill Park.

This latest award for Rockliffe Hall’s spa comes after a successful 2014 when it received the Good Spa Guide’s new accolade of ‘5 Bubble Luxury’ alongside just five other UK spas – again, the only one in the North of England.

In addition, Rockliffe Hall was recognised as one of the top 15 spa partners in the world for the exclusive brand, Comfort Zone, which works with hundreds of well-known spas around the globe, including The Ritz and The Berkley in London. Rockliffe Hall was the only one in the UK to be awarded the accolade.

Speaking about the new Spa Garden, Liz Holmes, spa director at Rockliffe Hall, said: “This is a major development for Rockliffe Hall. The Spa Garden will really make the resort the go-to place in the North of England as it is going to be the only one of its kind. The new development will overlook Rockliffe Hall’s magnificent grounds and offer even more luxury within the 365 acre estate.”

Warwick Brindle, chairman of Rockliffe Hall, added: “The investment marks the start of an exciting growth phase for our resort with big plans for the coming year as we continue to strive to increase both business and leisure tourism in the region.”
