North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Make a date with Colonel Porter’s

EXTRA portions of love are on the menu at one of Newcastle’s most exciting bar restaurants next week, as it celebrates its first Valentine’s Day.

Colonel Porter’s Tavern, Botanical Garden and Rhum Bar at Milburn House, Dean Street is pulling out all the stops to ensure Cupid’s arrow doesn’t miss.

From Monday 12 to Friday 16 February, the quirky venue is offering a romantic Valentine’s menu, showcasing some of its favourite dishes.

Guests will be treated to a cocktail on arrival, before sitting down to enjoy a three-course dinner.

Starters include the Colonel’s charcuterie to share, curried parsnip soup and pan fried king prawns, followed by a selection of mains such as roast chicken, pan fried cod and beetroot and spring onion risotto.

Finally, diners can sweeten up their date with a choice of desserts including lemon posset, sticky toffee pudding or ice creams and sorbets.

Chrissie Gladstone, sales manager at Colonel Porter’s believes the unique venue is the perfect place for getting romantic.

“This will be our first ever Valentine’s Day, and we wanted to celebrate it properly by giving guests a special menu,” she said.

“As it tends to be a busy night, we decided to run our offer over five days from Monday through to Friday, which means couples who can’t make it on the day itself don’t have to miss out.”

Colonel Porter’s – named after Newcastle Brown Ale creator Colonel J Porter – opened its doors in June 2017 and quickly rose to prominence as one of the most popular bars in the city centre, thanks to its unique décor, food and drink.

It is part of the Ramside Estates portfolio, which includes Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa and Hardwick Hall Hotel near Durham.

The Valentine’s menu is priced at £25 per person, and pre-booking is essential. A £5 deposit, which will be taken off the bill, is required at time of booking.
