Ian TubmanA LEADING North East care and leisure organisation has strengthened its team with the appointment of one of the region’s most experienced construction industry professionals.

Newcastle-based Malhotra Group plc, which owns some of Tyneside’s most popular hotels, bars and restaurants, along with a portfolio of residential care homes, has recruited Ian Tubman to the position of project director.

Ian has worked in the construction industry for more than 25 years, serving his time as a joiner and building surveyor before going on to be senior project manager on large and complex capital projects and programmes for both North Tyneside Council and Durham University.

Over the past decade, he has project managed a number of projects for the university including its award winning Palatine Centre headquarters and the new Law School, which was named the most impressive Law School Building in the World in 2014 by ‘Best Choice Schools.’

A long serving member of the Association of Project Managers, he holds a first class honours degree in building surveying and a number of Leadership and Management qualifications.

Reporting directly to the Group Board, Ian’s primary responsibility will be the delivery of all key property/site development projects within the Group on time and within budget.

In addition, he will assist with the co-ordination of all appointments with key contractors and sub-contractors, identify and quantify any project related savings against costs and timeframes, and oversee various property maintenance programmes and budgets within the Group.
