South Tyneside will come together this weekend to celebrate the Borough’s traditional Mayor’s Sunday.
The Borough’s new Mayor, Councillor Alan Smith, with his wife Councillor Moira Smith, will host the colourful traditional Mayor’s Sunday Parade and service on Sunday, 12 June.
The procession will march from Hedworthfield Primary School at 10.30am to St Joseph’s RC Church at St Joseph’s Way in Jarrow for a service at 11am.
A number of temporary road closures will be in place on the day.
The Mayor said: “It is a privilege to take part in this wonderful tradition. It gives the Mayoress and I a chance to reflect on what we would like to achieve during our year in office.
“This special occasion is also a great opportunity for the Borough to come together to celebrate the many wonderful things about living in South Tyneside.”
